GSDS 2009-2010

June 16th, 2009

Summer 2009 I will be updating the Sharbsclass site and preparing for the new school year. If you registered last school year, or this summer before this post was made, it will be necessary to re-register. My apologies for any inconvenience.

When you register:
1- Use a working email address. You can opt out of updates if you choose, but it is important that your email address be a working address.

On your user page:
2. Please include a first name, last name, and nickname.

3. In your biographical information please state what class and class period you are registered for. This will help me to group students into the appropriate contact groups and Music Appreciation students will not receive updates for AP US.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Civics: Budget Activity

April 20th, 2009

Use home-fair salary calculator to determine salary for what you want to do.
Determine monthly income from salary. Remember a portion of your money will go for taxes so check the “paycheck” tab.
Create a budget…how much can you afford to spend and what are you going to spend it on.
Your budget has to include: rent, utilities, transportation, and food. You may include other things such as cable, phone, entertainment, etc…

Search for apartments in your price range and in the city where you want to live. Find out average utilities cost in your area.

Students should list their job, salary, taxes, and net pay.
Include all sources at the end of your budget.

Research areas:
- Area of conflict (you must include a map)
- All countries/groups involved in the conflict
- Main points of conflict
- Time of conflict
- Resolved or still in conflict
- Brief synopsis (overview)

If your conflict goes way back in history then you need to touch on the original catalyst for conflict and then discuss the conflict as it applies to today.

Term 2/Semester 1 Grades

January 23rd, 2009

Students and Parents,

My apologies for the delay, but due to a death in my family grades for term 2 and semester 1 were not completed in time to reflect on the report cards received today (January 23, 2008). I will be sending home an updated grade report next week.

Again, my apologies for the delay but everything will be corrected soon.

Thank you for your understanding.
