Plan a Trip: Deadline soon!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Students your project is due soon! If you need guidelines for the project go here.

If you are needing help with hotel and flight information I recommend expedia.com. It is the easiest to search. You can also search for combined hotel and flight packages. CB students, this will help your budget! Tips for searching can be found here.

What do you turn in?
1. One page essay. It must include:

- Location
- Government type
- Current Leader
- Population
- Climate
- History and things to see

2. An itinerary

This is simply a schedule of what to do on your trip and a breakdown of costs.
Here are a few samples:

Alaska Yacht Charters

Discover South Carolina

Helpful site for European information

The difference in your itinerary and the samples is that you will have to include a price breakdown for the trip, a budget. How much would this cost you??? Doing these things before a trip is just smart travel.

Things to remember: Passport cost, money exchange rate, visual representation for when you present.

Tips for looking for activities and attractions:
Use your favorite search engine and look for “tourist attractions in (your country)” or “tour (your country)” or “things to do in (your country”

Good luck and let me know if you hit a stumbling block.

Travel Info

Itinerary for the trip, which will include the following:

  • Accommodations
  • Travel
  • Attractions and things to do
    • Brief description of each
  • Cost of Accommodations
  • Cost of Travel
  • Cost of activities
  • Cost of meals
  • Miscellaneous other costs (Passport, spending money, tips, etc…)
  • Total cost of trip
  • Don’t forget exchanging money and rate of exchange
  • The itinerary does not have to be broken down by day and time. However, there must be evidence of a planned trip.

  • Do you have a passport? If not, you have to have one to travel out of the country. Include this in your budget. This link will help you find out how to get a passport and how much it will cost.
  • Before researching your flights you must know where you will be flying to. After deciding what activities will be a part of your trip you will be able to determine the best city for your arrival.
  • Go to www.expedia.com to search for flights and hotels. You can search for these separately or combined.
  • You will search for flights by entering your search information on the left side of the page.
  • When your search results appear you will have to choose a departing flight by selecting “choose this departure.”
  • You will then be taken to the return flight page where you will have to choose a return.
  • Choose your return and Expedia will process your request.
  • You have entered no information for purchase so do not be concerned.
  • The final page is “review your flight details.” This is the information you need to add to your notes.
  • You need to know how many connections you have, what airline, and the total cost. The total, round trip, cost is what I am most concerned with.
  • What hotel will you be staying in and how much is it per night? What is the total cost of the hotel?

Do not forget that you must include a short write up of each activity/tourist attraction. One paragraph will be sufficient.
